François Spierre (1639 -1681) was an apprentice of the de Poilly brothers in Paris and followed Claude Mellan's path as an engraver of the major Baroque artists of Rome, from Pietro da Cortona to Bernini. Collaborating with Cornelis Bloemaert, he also translated the works of Correggio, Domenichino and Ciro Ferri into prints. With a complete catalogue of known works, a list of false attributions and transcriptions of contemporary documents (from 1633 to 1681). Text in Italian.
