An exploration of four centuries of garments inspired by the natural world housed in the Metropolitan Museum of Art's collection. The catalogue is divided into the five senses in order to explore clothing's relationship with the body. Over 200 works are illustrated and discussed in accompanying essays. International couturiers and design houses include Christian Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, Elsa Schiaparelli and Maison Margiela. Followed by a response by photographer Nick Knight and chemical analysis of select entries like dresses by Poiret, Fortuny and McQueen.
