Considers key works, such as 'Nude Descending a Staircase' (1912), 'Large Glass' (1915-1923) and 'Etant donnés' (1946-1966) and unlocks them through an understanding of the greater themes at work in his oeuvre, including chess, eroticism, anarchy and money. Also takes into account the popular culture of the time and explores the influence this, and his personal encounters with others, such as the Brazilian sculptor Maria Martins, may have had on the works that emerged.
